Connect Claude Code
Add the Whippy MCP server to Claude Code from the command line.
Add the server
Run:
claude mcp add --transport http --callback-port 8787 whippy https://api.whippy.co/mcp
Keep--callback-port 8787Whippy only accepts the local sign-in callback
http://localhost:8787/callback. Without--callback-port 8787, Claude Code picks a random port and sign-in fails withinvalid_redirect_uri. Port 8787 must be free on your machine while you sign in.
By default the server is added for you in the current project. Add --scope user to use it in every project, or --scope project to share it with your team through .mcp.json:
claude mcp add --transport http --callback-port 8787 --scope user whippy https://api.whippy.co/mcpSign in
Run this in your shell:
claude mcp login whippyOr, inside a Claude Code session, run /mcp and select whippy to sign in. Your browser opens the Whippy sign-in page. Sign in, choose your workspace, and approve.
On a machine without a browser (for example over SSH), claude mcp login prints the sign-in URL instead. Open it on your own computer, then paste the full redirect URL back into the terminal.
Claude Code stores the token and refreshes it for you. Check the connection with:
claude mcp get whippyUse it
Ask in plain language, or mention the server to steer Claude:
Using whippy, list my channels and show the last 10 messages on our main number.
Share with your team
A project-scoped .mcp.json checked into your repo looks like this. Each teammate still signs in with their own Whippy account.

claude mcp remove whippyThen disconnect Claude Code in Whippy under Connected apps.
